¿Qués es este libro?
Un tostón. No se como ha sobrevivido al paso del tiempo. No leo más a Quevedo.

Estaba Quevedo andando por el campo y en eso que le entra un apretón y se pone a defecar detrás de un matorral para que nadie le vea. De repente pasa un tren y un niño señalándolo decía:
- Que veo, que veo.
Y dice Quevedo:
- Hasta por el culo me reconocen.

El consejo mundial de los indiscretos

Llevar a la práctica una ocurrencia tantas veces nacida en una francachela de escritores, entre copa y copa, y que hasta ahora nunca había pasado a la imprenta, no es exactamente un experimento literario, pero si que el resultado impreso es una curiosidad en literatura, sobre todo si finalmente, como en este caso, el resultado es excelente. Los diez autores de este libro escribieron un capítulo cada uno sin conocer más que el capítulo inmediatamente anterior (los cojones) y el resultado es una historia perfectamente congruente. ¿Una novela policial? En el fondo si, pero con más ambición que la que determina ese género.

Viaje alrededor de la Luna

En esta novela continúan las aventuras que Barbicane y sus compañeros Ardan y Nicholl viven en De la Tierra a la Luna. En esta ocasión, junto con sus perros, Diana y Satélite, emprenden un viaje de circunnavegación alrededor de la Luna. Este ameno relato está repleto de detalladas descripciones lunares y precisas explicaciones matemáticas que le confieren un añadido interés científico, pero más rollazo.

Arthur C.Clarke colaboró estrechamente con Stanley kubrick en la producción de la célebre película homónima.

Regreso a Titán

Esta novela de Arthur C. Clarke sitúa la acción (que tiene poca) en el año 2276, entre la Tierra y el mundo de Titán, una de las lunas exteriores de Saturno. Centrada en las rivalidades políticas entre los habitantes de Titán, la historia ofrece también interesantes descripciones técnicas sobre los viajes espaciales. El consagrado autor de Cita con Rama y Alcanza el mañana crea con mano maestra ¿un mundo fascinante? y conserva, como era lógico esperar de su brillante imaginación, distintos hechos que sucesivamente van ¿sorprendiendo? al lector. No me ha parecido tan buen libro. Sin más.

Poema de Gilgamesh - Bhagavad-Gita

El Bhagavad-Gita, que se puede traducir por el Canto del Dios o por el Canto del Bienaventurado, data del segundo o del tercer siglo antes de nuestra era. De nombre de autor desconocido; los hindúes atribuyen sus obras a una divinidad, a una secta,  a un personaje de la fábula o simplemente al Tiempo, hipótesis que parece atendible pero que alarma a los eruditos. El poema consta de setecientos versos y ha sido interpolado en el Mahabharata, que consta de doscientos doce mil. Se enfrentan dos ejércitos; Arjuna, el héroe, vacila antes de entrar en la batalla porque teme matar a sus parientes, a sus amigos y a sus maestros, que militan en el opuesto bando. El auriga de su carro lo insta a cumplir con el deber que su casta le impone. Declara que el universo es ilusorio y que la guerra también lo es. El alma es inmortal; transmigra a otros seres muerta la carne. La derrota o la victoria no importan; lo esencial es cumplir con su deber y lograr el Nirvana. Se revela después como Krishna, que es uno de los mil nombres de Vishnu. En el Bhagava-Gita confluyen las seis escuelas de la filosofía hindú. Vaya tostón.

La otra pieza de este volumen es la epopeya de Gilgamesh. tal vez no sólo cronológicamente es la primera de las epopeyas del mundo. Fue redactada o compilada hace cuatro mil años. En la famosa biblioteca de Asurbanipal doce tablas de arcilla contenían el texto. La cifra no es casual; corresponde al orden astrológico de la obra. Dos son los héroes del poema: el rey Gilgamesh y Enkidu, un hombre primitivo y sencillo, que vaga entre las gacelas de la pradera. Ha sido creado por la diosa Aruru para destruir a Gilgamesh, pero los dos se hacen amigos y emprenden aventuras que prefiguran los doce trabajos de Hércules. También se prefiguran en la epopeya el descenso a la Casa de Hades en la Odisea, el descenso de Eneas y la Sibila y la casi de ayer Comedia dantesca. La muerte del gigante Khumbaba, que guarda la foresta de cedros y cuyo cuerpo está revestido de ásperas escamas de bronce, es una de las muchas maravillas de este multiforme poema. La triste condición de los muertos y la búsqueda de la inmortalidad personal son temas esenciales. Diríase que todo ya está en este libro babilónico. Sus páginas inspiran el horror de lo que es muy antiguo y nos obligan a sentir el incalculable peso del Tiempo. Este si me ha gustado. Es la primera vez en la historia que se nombra a la "cerveza".
